After six months of planning and training, on 28th June 2014 I embarked on a 1,050 mile cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Aside from fulfilling a life-long ambition, my aim was to raise money for The Norfolk & Norwich Association for Blind (NNAB) – a local charity providing support for the 20,000 people with poor sight across Norfolk.
The epic trip took 13 days, during which time I climbed a total of over 72,000 feet, ate an awful lot of cake and made some amazing memories. Even more amazing was the fact that there were no punctures or injuries on the whole trip, and only one day of rain!
Thanks to the wonderful support and generosity of colleagues, friends, family, patients and many new friends along the route, together we raised £2,380 for the NNAB. Here I am on the right, presenting the cheque to the charity's CEO Max Marriner.
